Hi, I am Dr. Peter and would like to help.

1- Is the area that is purple at the incision site?

No, her incision has pretty much healed at this point... it is really her entire belly and an even shade throughout.

This could be related to excessive licking. However, discoloration of purple can be bleeding in the skin from coagulation disorder or low platelets (thrombocytopenia). The best thing to do is have a vet take a look at this discoloration. The two latter conditions if untreated can be fatal.

If you have additional questions I will be glad to answer them.

given that tomorrow is xmas eve and the vet will probably be closed, how urgent is it that she see the vet?

Also, the skin in her ears is still pink and not at all purple... does that narrow it down?

If you are seeing discoloration in other places that would be more consistent with coagulation or low platelets. Important to have her checked and get some blood work done; we do have medicines to get this under control.
