Hello and welcome. My name is ***** ***** I have been in the dog field for 25 years. I am a Therapy Dog & AKC Evaluator/trainer/ as well as an assistance/service dog trainer, specializing in behavior. It will be my pleasure to help you today.

It sounds like a compulsion or boredom.

What type of personality does the dog have with strangers, shy, fearful, outgoing?

What type and how much activity does he get?

What type of toys do you have?

What have you tried so far?

Nice to meet you Sally,
We keep him in a garden of around 600 squere meeter, he is friends with our cat.
It's true we walk him outside 1-2 times per month.
He is scared and sht with new people but protective at the border of our propriety.
He has a ball he always likes playing with.
We never went with him at mont ( females ).
He hadn't many occasions to socialize with other dogs.
He gets lots of love and attention from family members.
When we take him outside he pulls really hard, curious to smell everywhere. This is a problem since i left my hometown and my parents cannot handle his stregnthThank you for your time.

Thank you for that information. It sounds like there is some boredom going on or some compulsion.

I would try some interactive toys with him to keep his attention on that rather than the tail. There are toys that you can make it easy for him to get out the food/treats or harder by putting a larger piece of treat near the ends.

I also might talk again to your vet about calming meds or you can try an Adaptil collar and see if that helps in conjunction with the dog puzzle toys.

Also training the leave it command to 100% can help stop it if someone is around to give the command.

For walking, you could try a gentle leader and train him how to heel.

Dog Puzzles. If you just type in dog puzzles on amazon you will come to a page full. I just happened to pick this one. Pet stores also carry dog puzzles.
